Widget Group Administration

Last updated: July 10, 2020

There are a number of widgets available, each having different functionality. Users can group these widgets together for easier dashboard configuration.

The groups can then be seen in the “Add” menu from Dashboard Configuration - Alarms, Charts, Data Entry, etc.

To access this page, select Menu>Administration>Widget Groups.

SuperUsers will have the ability to choose which organisation they can add widget groups to by accessing the organisation in the drop down menu in the top right corner.

This page will display the group names on the left hand side. In this example, there is one existing group called ‘Graphs’.

On the top right we can see the widgets that belong to this group.

On the bottom right, we can see the available widgets that have not been assigned to any group.

A widget can only belong to one group.

Add a New Widget Group

To add a new group, click the "Add" button. The user will be prompted to enter the name of the group.

Click "Save", and the group will now appear in the Group Name list.

Note: Users have to click on the text box to give it focus before typing in the group name.

Add/Remove widgets to a group

Highlight a widget group to display the widgets currently in that group. It will also display the list of all unassigned widgets in the window below. A widget can only be assigned to one group at a time.

Drag and drop (or double click) an unassigned widget into the Widgets in Group box.

Widgets can be removed from groups by double clicking on the widget name or by dragging and dropping the widget name back to the Unassigned Widgets list.

Once it has been removed, the widget name will be back in the un-assigned list and the name will have a line through it.

This example shows that the 2YAxes widget has been removed from the group.

If the user has added a widget to a group and removed it immediately, then the widget name may not get a line through the name – it will simply be removed from the list.

There is no Save button, the changes are saved automatically.

Delete a Widget Group

To delete a widget group, highlight the group name and click "Delete". There is no warning to confirm deletion.

The group name is removed from the list. Any widgets that were in this group will be moved to the un-assigned widget list.

Sort Widget Groups

Groups can be dragged and dropped in an order that will be used when accessing widgets from the Dashboard Edit screen.
